Leam Cika was born in Tarrytown, NY in 1965, & grew up in Croton-on-Hudson NY.
He studied art & science at Bennington College & Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was
also the 1st Bennington College student to attend and complete the rigorous NROTC program at RPI.
In 1988 he received both this BA from Bennington & a commission in the United States Navy.
Always keeping his sketchbook handy, he continued to work while on active duty stationed in
San Diego, Ca. In 1992 he left The Navy & settled in the small town of Bovina, NY located high in
The Catskill Mountains.
Drawing on his minor in architecture, he worked as a home designer for a modular home company
while he built his house, custom grounds and raised his family. In 2000 he took part in the
New Millennium Group Show at the Lindenberg Gallery in New York City, with some commercial success.
Since then, he founded and managed his own successful internet company which was sold in 2020
allowing him to pick up where he left off in 2000 & devote himself full time to his 1st passion of painting &
visual arts as a whole.
Transportalism is how I define my art. Creation is primarily an act of transporting or bringing
an item from the world of the intangible to the tangible. The intangible is the world behind the world.
It is the fertile garden of creativity that by nature has no limits. Imagination is the key to this realm,
with that you find your way. Picasso clearly understood this fact as well, when he said
"Everything you can imagine is real".
